Tour of Museum at the Brig In-Person

Join the Athol Library and Farragut State Park, for a tour of the newly reopened Museum at the Brig in Farragut State Park.

The Brig is the last remaining structure of the 776 buildings that once made up the Farragut Naval Training Station (FNTS) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, the Brig houses a museum showcasing the Navy’s history at Farragut, along with exhibits on the area’s cultural and natural history and a Junior Ranger Station.

Tour Highlights:

  • Discover how, between 1943 and 1946, FNTS became Idaho’s largest city, with almost 300,000 sailors in training at the nation’s second-largest boot camp.
  • Learn about FNTS’s state-of-the-art hospital (the largest west of the Mississippi), featuring over 7 miles of hallways and 2,300 beds.
  • Explore the contributions of the Women of World War II and how they supported the war effort at FNTS.
  • Explore how and why this historic site was created.

Experience the fascinating history of this one-of-a-kind place! The Athol Library will have kid's crafts, Grab & Go Kits, and refreshments!
